The project scope was to construct a concrete control structure approximately 160’ long with wingwalls and sheet piling on both sides for regulating water flow out of Devils Lake, ND. Workincluded 48,000 CY of excavation, a cofferdam, cast in place concrete control structure, stop logsystem, 28,200 SF of sheet piling, 7,500 tons of riprap and bedding, and 10 acres of landscaping anderosion control. Challenges consisted of constructing this project in winter conditions, developinga dewatering system to be used throughout the winter, and utilizing wood matting for the excavationdue to soft soils.
